I always thought I made it to Zermatt in 1980. I am sure I remember Istanding on the station looking up to the mountains before jumping back on the train to places I could afford to visit.
No Way!
That was the station at Brig and Zermatt was the place I could not get to. I am here now and I love it. It is one big tourist shop I know but it has a charm about it too.
It is a stepping off point for the Matterhorn and other nearby mountain spots. It is also the start for the Glacier express which is why I am here but that will be tomorrows adventure.

I learned something special today. Well, I had one of my axioms for life reinforced This is my definition of worry.
90% of what we worry about will never happen. Stop worrying! Don’t waste all that time and effort worrying - do something productive.
8% of what we worry about is gonna happen anyway, we can do nothing about it. It is coming to get you and you cannot avoid it. Stop worrying! Don’t waste all that time and effort worrying - do something productive.
2% of what we worry about may happen, if we just sit about and do nothing. So - Stop worrying! Don’t waste all that time and effort worrying - do something productive to change what is a worry.
Today this was reinforced for me. I had had a perfect day on the mountains. The most perfect day up there you could ever wish for. Everyone said it was a perfect day.
Today you can’t even get up there. Storm warnings, trains are not allowed beyond where I was staying, Lauterbrunnen.
I had only one day after 35 years to do this trip and it was perfect. A day later and I would have not been able to get up there. I did not even know that was a thing. I knew it could be misty and the views a little limited but zero access - never.
If I had known about zero access days I would have worried throughout the last few weeks. I would have checked the long range forecasts weeks ago and the week forecast from Geneva. All the time there was nothing to be done about it. It would be or it would not be. All that effort worrying - and no productivity at all.
