I am doing this trip all with Emirates. I booked with Qantas on a QF flight number but the trip is on Emirates metal. ADL - DXB then DXB - GVA. First leg was on a 777 300 this is a big plane. Loading at ADL was fast and efficient. Of course for an evening departure there was little to be seen as we took off. I had hoped we would take off on 05 to run over the city but at the end of the day winds moved enough to send us aloft via 23. This plane just leaps into the air. IT is so smooth and elegant.
I was sitting in 19c so I was among the last to board and that is fine. Those in rows 40 plus were on board just waiting for ages so I was happy about my seat. Boarding went very orderly and there was lots of room when I came to toss my carry on into the overhead locker, or hat rack as it is noted on the plane.
Then we flew. 13 hours to DXB.
Sleep time really but sleeping was difficult. When sitting in my seat I always want to recline it, they are so vertical. But when the seat in front of me comes flying back as the seat belt sign goes off... I can't do it to the person behind me... In fact I made a pact with myself many years ago to never recline my seat if there is someone behind. I hate it happening to me,so they would too. I just hope to find another me on a plane someday...
We arrived at DXB a few minutes early. Then I discovered that arriving flights, well lots of them are routed to remote stands. Really remote! We were parked miles away from anywhere except other Emirates planes. We deplaned on mobile steps, not seen that in a long time. Then bussed to the terminal. All was easy, no question about what to do just follow the crowd and eventually I found my gate for GVA.
The duty free bored me very quickly so I just walked. At least I got a good number of steps in... Almost 6000 before boarding the next flight.
DXB - GVA was on a 777 200. Smaller plane but still huge range and off we went for the 6 hours to GVA.
I can't complain about the food on either flight. It was quite good. Eating on a plane tho is such an ordeal. Not enough room. I had to ask for the seat to be moved up for meals just no way to eat with it back in my nose.
I did love the outside cameras in the second flight. Had a lovely view of Bucharest as we flew over it at 36000 feet.
